Maybelline Bare It Buff Plush Silk Eyeshadow came out as part of the Spring 2014 Dare To Go Nude Collection. It is a limited edition quad with warm-toned pale neutral shades and is the lightest option of the 4 available quads. The formula is supposed to be silky smooth and offer rich color payoff.

From the ads I’ve seen, these seemed like they might be some sort of liquid lipstick but to me they feel mostly like a gloss. They have a moisturizing, non-sticky feel and offer vibrant but sheer to semi-opaque color. Dancing Rose is a purplish pink with lots of fine multi-colored sparkles and Rouge Allegro is a bright pinkish red with no sparkles or shimmer.

I’ve been testing this for quite a while because I couldn’t decide whether I liked it or not. I think I was in denial about the quality not being quite up to snuff because after all it is a handy palette full of neutral matte eyeshadows – and I LOVE that concept. But I feel like I HAVE to use a primer if I want it to look good and I have to blend very carefully because they can have a tendency to look patchy on they eyelid. And yet, I still reach for it because I like the colors and it’s convent having them all together in one palette! Argh, I still have such an internal conflict but I want to get this review out, so here it is.
