Blue, purple, and pink eyeshadow look

Attempting to use cake liner as an eyeshadow base

This look started with wanting to try using my cake liner as a base for Alaska from Nabla. I wanted to see if I could get the nuances of color in the sparkles to show up more that way but the look ended up turning into something too colorful for them to be noticeable.

Nabla Wild Berry and Metropolitan Cutie Palettes

Swatches: Nabla Wild Berry and Metropolitan Cutie Palettes

I bought these some time last spring out of curiosity to try a new brand and because each palette had a couple of shades that seemed like things I didn’t already have. Specifically, Venom, Alchemy 2.0, and Bucolic Baby were the shades that caught my eye from Wild Berry. Metropolitan didn’t call to me as much but in that one, Nothing Personal, and Alaska were the shades I thought would be unique to my collection. In this post I included comparison swatches for those shades in an effort to see if they were actually things I didn’t already have.

Winter storm

February + March 2021 Recap

I skipped February so I’m including it together with March. February was not all that exciting except for one week we had an ice storm. That would’ve been the main thing in the post. The last two months didn’t seem to fly by as quickly as January did.

Decluttering My Makeup Collection (Part 1)

I’m starting what will probably be a long process of decluttering. I’ve been thinking of doing this for over a month now and haven’t made much progress because it can get overwhelming and can be difficult to make decisions. To start, I set aside items that I’m considering getting rid of. This is what is in the four boxes that are sitting in front of my cabinets. I think it can help to do this if you have the space to store stuff temporarily.

ColourPop So Jaded Palette

Review: ColourPop So Jaded Palette

The ColourPop So Jaded Palette is an older collaboration between Kathleen Lights and ColourPop. I started doing looks with it in November and at that time it was still (surprisingly) available on the ColourPop website. As far as I can tell, it seems to be discontinued now.

January 2021 Recap

Can’t believe January is already behind me, considering how slow each day felt individually. I spent the first third of the month lost in a mix of seasonal depression and the fallout of my breakup, and I didn’t do much of anything that I would normally think of as productive. Around January 10th, I decided that I needed to find a “real” job ASAP and spent the next couple of weeks entirely focused on that. I found one and I start in a few days. It’s temporary but at least it’s something.

Some Of My Favorite Quotes

These are a few of the quotes that always stand out to me whenever I’m scrolling through Pinterest.

Random Facts About Me

You may see that I haven’t updated the blog in a while. My life is a mess right now. Messier than it has ever been. I just got out of a 15 year relationship and moved into my parents basement. I don’t have any of the stuff I normally do to create beauty content so I’m trying to think of other things I can post in the meantime.

Alter Ego Artemis Palette

Review: Alter Ego Artemis Palette

The Alter Ego Artemis Palette is supposed to be a dupe of Natasha Denona’s Metropolis Palette, not only in the color selection but also in the formulation of some of the cream/powder hybrid shades. There are 28 shades and it retails for $22.
