Classy Coral is part of the blush collection Revlon released late 2013. It is a sheer, mostly-matte warm pink with a subtle skin-like sheen when buffed with a brush. Revlon Powder Blushes cost around $10 and contain 5g / 0.17 oz. of product. They are available more widely now at drugstores, Ulta, and Target.
The Good:
- It has decent color payoff (on cheeks – not so much in swatches). It’s not crazy pigmented but it certainly has enough pigmentation to easily apply the color to fair skin tones. I can apply one layer and get a sheer wash of color. Applying 2 or 3 layers will intensify the color. This is one that I did scrape into to swatch. It’s not necessary to do that if you just apply it with a brush but to get a good strong swatch I had to loosen up the color to swatch it on my arm. Here’s what one swipe across the powder looks like:
- The texture is pretty nice. It is soft, smooth, not too powdery. Sweeping the brush over the product doesn’t kick up very much powder – just a tiny bit and nothing too bothersome. It blends out easily and sits nicely on the skin without making cheeks look powdery or sticking to peach fuzz.
- The texture doesn’t make the skin look dry or powdery, or emphasize large pores. It appears matte at first but it has some very fine reflective particles and takes on a subtle skin-like sheen when you buff over it with a brush.
- I wore it for 8 hours and experienced no fading.
The Not So Good:
- What you see in the pan isn’t really what you get on the cheek. It applies much pinker than it looks.
- It is sheer and depending on your preference and skin tone this could be either good or bad. This shade would show up most easily on fair skin tones. Medium skin tones would probably need an extra layer or two to build up the color. Medium-dark to dark skin tones will likely have more trouble getting this shade to show up.
- This shade is packed a little more tightly in the pan than Naughty Nude, Melon Drama, and Racy Rose (the four shimmer/sheen shades).
- I feel like it is pricey for what it is – though I am seeing A LOT of drugstore makeup going up in price.
Worth Buying?
If you like subtle, warm pink blushes, yes. If you are expecting a bright coral (orangey pink) color, then you might be disappointed. The only difficulty is in swatching the shade since it is packed a bit more tightly in the pan than the other shades but this doesn’t really affect it’s usability. If you like the color I’d say go for it, it’s not super expensive and it’s easy to work with. However, if you prefer your blushes to have a very high level of pigmentation, you might want to skip this one.
