I resisted buying this foundation at first because I never had much luck with Covergirl foundations in the past but I noticed that lots of people were liking it so I decided to give it a try. I purchased the shade Creamy Natural and I thought it might be a hair too dark but it’s actually a pretty decent match. This foundation is supposed to eliminate the need for a primer and a concealer and deliver all day flawless coverage.
Product Description
Price/Quantity: About $12 USD for 30 mL
Availability: Drugstores, Ulta, Walmart, Target, Fred Meyer, Amazon.com
Color Range: 14 Shades
Color/Finish: Creamy Natural is very close in color to Mac NW20 but is just a hair warmer. It has a nearly matte finish – not as matte as it would look if you were wearing a powder but not dewy or glowy.
Packaging: The bottle is made out of glass and is fairly heavy. The lid is plastic and I found that after you start using the foundation it easily gets dirty as the tip of the pump almost touches the inside of the lid.
Smell: It has a slight fragrance.
Performance
Application: I worked on one area (forehead, cheek, etc.) at a time with this foundation because it does dry down quickly. I applied and spread it over my skin with my fingers and finishing off with a buffing brush, then moved on to the next area.
Coverage: This is a full coverage foundation but I wouldn’t say that it completely eliminates the need for a concealer. It does even out skintone very well and it hides mild under eye circles, very faded acne scarring, mild redness, and darks spots that are not very pigmented. If you have active breakouts, moderate to severe undereye circles, or very pigmented dark spots then you will still need a concealer to achieve a flawless look.
Texture: This foundation has a creamy consistency and comes out of the bottle quite thick but it does spread and blend easily. It also doesn’t feel heavy, even though you might think it would.
Longevity: This does last all day without breaking down on my face but if you have oily skin you will still need a powder or blotting papers. My skin started to get dewy about 4 hours into wearing it but not enough that I felt I needed to apply powder, it just had a natural finish to it. It didn’t start settling into pores or fines lines over the day.
Overall Opinion
Pros:
- Long lasting
- Good for oily skin
- Full coverage
- Pump dispenser
- Good color range
- SPF 20
Cons:
- Probably wont work for dry skin
Would I buy this again? Yes. If you are like me and haven’t had any luck with Covergirl foundations in the past, you will find that this is nothing like previous foundations they have come out with. It feels more like a high end product.
