Here are some of the looks I did using the Natasha Denona Yucca Palette. These are all available as tutorials on YouTube. Also check out my swatch post here.

Look #1

Shades used:

• Tipu – Outer transition shade
• Flax – Outer lid
• Fushi – Inner lid/crease, lower lash line
• Elysian – Center of lid (dry brush)
• Komorebi – Inner corner, brow bone (dry brush for both)

Look #2

Shades used:

• Calathea – All over lid/crease
• Acacia – Lower lashline 
• Plantasia – Center of lid

For this one I included photo of the way it looked before I applied the shimmer as an alternative. Calathea is a creamy powder and it takes a while to build up to this level of color payoff. I found using my finger the fastest way to build up color but I still had to use a few brushes to get it to look evenly applied. Wear time for this look was not great. I wore it for about 4 hours before I saw creasing both with and without primer. The rest of the non-cream shades seem to be pretty long wearing on me though.

Look #3

Shades used:

• Ixia – All over lid/crease
• Willow – Lower lash line
• Elysian – Outer corner, inner corner

I used Elysian initially with a dry brush which made it easier to blend around the edges but I went over it again with a damp brush to kick the shine and color up a notch.

• Acacia – Outer crease/transition, lower lash line
• Valley – Inner lid/crease
• Calathea – Outer corner for depth
• Komorebi – Center of lid (dry brush only)

Look #5

Shades used:

• Malia (Natasha Denona Safari Palette) – Inner corner, brow bone
• Aya (Natasha Denona Safari Palette) – Transition
• Valley – Crease, very lightly and very blended
• About Face White Noise Matte Fluid Eye Paint – Center of lid

For this one I wanted to try Plantasia over a light base color. I used a white cream shadow just on the center of the lid and blended it out before placing the shimmer over top.

Look #8

There were a few things I wanted to accomplish with this look. First, I wanted to see how different Tipu and Acacia look when used side by side. I used Acacia on one eye (first image) and Tipu on the other (second image) and then wore the look all day. I could not tell them apart. In swatches, they are not 100% identical but they are very similar. I also wanted to see if Flax was pigmented enough to be used as eyeliner and how Elysian looks as a complementary shimmer to the warmer/greener toned mattes.

These are all of the looks I’ve done using the ColourPop Not A Box of Chocolates Palette. Most of them are done using only this palette but for a couple of them, I used it as a pairing palette to vary up the mattes. So far, I am liking the selection of shimmers most in this palette. The mattes are not bad but they stay very true to the chocolate theme, staying tightly together in depth with very similar orange and red undertones.

I haven’t always been super into neutrals so trying to come up with variety in this area of color is new for me lol.

This was my first time using the palette as a pairing palette. I wanted to feature the shade Cherry Cordial along with some non-brown shades to help the burgundy really shine.

This was another pairing palette look. I only really used one shade from Not A Box of Chocolates and pulled several lighter/cooler neutrals from other palettes.

Here are all the looks I did while focusing on the Natasha Denona My Dream Palette. This post is meant to show this used mostly as a standalone palette. For nearly all of these looks, I pulled in a matte brow bone and inner corner highlight from other palettes and singles I have.

Look #1

Shades Used:

• Nurture – Outer lid/crease, lower lashine
• Serenity – Center of lid
• Invention – Lower lashline, layered over Nuture
• Blackest Black – Upper lashline, a tiny bit to darken brows

I’m pretty sure it was a work day when I wore this, so I went super “wearable”. The sparkly shade on the lower lashline can be applied more heavily than I did it here.

Look #2:

Shades Used:

• Unity – Transition
• Nurture – Outer lid/crease, lower lashine (much less diffused than Look 1, in a smaller area), brows
• Blackest Black – Upper lashline

Another work look, so I applied everything with a light hand on purpose. The brow color mismatch was a little unfortunate LOL.

• Edgy – Deepen outer lid
• Vision – Inner half of lid/crease
• Thrill – Inner lower lashline
• Aspiration – Outer lower lashline, brows

I wanted to use some of the more interesting shades in this look. Vision is a shifty shade that looks green at an angle and purple in direct light. Edgy is a cream powder formula.

• Blackest Black – Tiny amount smudged into upper lashline

Warm + cool all matte smokey eye. Aspiration looked darker on the lid than I was expecting it to.

Sometimes I unintentionally wing out my crease color, and then I just have to go with it.

This was done in a rush so I kept it simple.

Third attempt with the Danessa Myricks Lightwork 4 Palette. This goes into the category of “I tried”. There are some photos where this looks okay but I wanted to take all of this off as soon as I was done taking pics.

Once I put Heaven on my lid, it started causing the shade underneath to crease. It adheres well and is decently easy to work with but I don’t recommend using it the way I did here if you want your makeup to last. Both of the pressed chrome flakes in the palette remind me of the ColourPop pressed glitters in that I need to spend some time maneuvering them on the skin to get the individual pieces placed just right. Sometimes they go on well and other times, I end up with a bit of a clump that needs to be broken up and spread out. 

Both Espcapism and Out of Body are very shiny and have intense color payoff. They glide onto the skin like they aren’t even powders. I had some fallout from Out of Body on the lower part of my eye. Not sure if that’s because of how I applied it (rather heavily and not very carefully LOL). I haven’t really used this palette for “normal” makeup so, I don’t know what fallout is like with that type of use yet.

This second look with the Danessa Myricks Lightwork 4 Palette was an experiment to see how the Aqua Chrome shade Aura would work used as a base. I mainly wanted to know if it would hold up in the crease and if I would be able to apply other powder shadows over top without ruining it. For the first question, the quick answer is no. It doesn’t work used in place of a primer and does not last for very long before cracking and flaking off in the crease. I feel it would probably hold up just fine used as an eyeliner or perhaps the lower lashline, somehwere the skin doesn’t move much and isn’t disturbed much throughout the day. As for applying shadows over top, that worked well. Once it dried down, it didn’t move and didn’t flake when touched with my brushes to apply other colors over it. I tried using  an eyeshadow primer underneath Aura on one eye and that really didn’t work well at all, do not recommend lol. It made creasing/flaking worse.

I applied Awakening over Aura so it was hard to tell how opaque it was but from what I could tell, it seemed to show up well. There was a tiny bit of fallout even after tapping the brush off but it didn’t stick to my under eye area. Angels applies more heavily than I expect for having a clear base. It is *packed* with sparkle, so even attempting to be light handed with it, I end up with more of a solid layer than a dusting of glimmer from it. Paradise is a Pressed Chrome Flake shade and it has a waxy feel to the touch. It picks up fine with a finger but doesn’t stick to a brush as readily. I wanted to use it in somewhat of a more precise way than my fingers could do, so I used a thick eyeliner brush. All this to say that it took me a long time to get it applied the way you see it here but it did stay put all day long.

Here is my first dive into the Danessa Myricks Lightwork 4 Palette. For this look, I paired it with the ColourPop So Jaded Palette because I wanted some colorful mattes to build some sort of “base look” with. The base of this look consists of a matte yellow in the crease and along the lower lashline, a deeper orange on the inner part of the crease and burgundy red on the outer part of the crease. I also used a skintone shade on the inner corner to help cancel out blue veining that was not covered completely by concealer. 

The rest of the shine and sparkle are just a few shades from the Danessa Myricks palette like icing on a cake. The main color I was interested in using was Nirvana, which has a reddish orange tone from straight on and looks more gold when seen from the side. And I thought the yellowy bronze and green in Zen would pair well, so I put that on the lower lashline. Slide through the photos and I have a couple at different angles, trying to capture the color shift of both of those shades. The inner corner highlight is a different, more sparkly formula and doesn’t have a color shift. There was some fallout from both Nirvana and Zen and I felt the need to tap the brush off a little extra before applying them. Both shades had excellent, opaque color payoff and a metallic shine.

Here’s a simple, lighter neutral look with the ABH Nouveau Palette that isn’t brown-based. It’s nice to have an option like this that is still “wearable” but isn’t the same old thing.

This was a super quick look to put together. Technically, I used four shades but mainly 3 are what is noticeable. You could skip Muse on the lashline to save some time.

I packed the peachy matte shade all over the lid and blended it through the crease. Then, I layered the shimmery gold over top on the lid. It didn’t adhere super well used this way but patting it on (rather than swiping) helped to get it to show up more. You could also use a sticky base underneath or use a dampened brush. I smudged the deep brown into the lashline from underneath the lashes (so, not used as a traditional eyeliner) to help darken the lashline. Using this shade previously, I had some fallout, but using it this way, there was none. The only fallout I had was from Isle, which only has fine shimmer in it, so it just ended up looking like a highlighter.

The ABH Nouveau palette generally leans warm-toned but I managed to eek out a cool-toned look from it here. I wanted to see what that lavender would look like next to the blue in Peacock. Using it previously, the blue sheen wasn’t very strong, so this time I used it over a sticky base.

Wisteria wasn’t the easiest to use in the crease, especially once I attempted to blend Peacock over it. It seemed to easily lose intensity either by the base color in Peacock or by blending away (was hard to tell which), so I ended up going back over parts of it with a small brush to add more color.

There was a small amount of fallout from the large sparkle in Peacock but it brushed off easily. Using this shade over glitter glue made a whole lot of difference. Definitely recommend doing this if you want the blue to pop more.

What to call this? Metallic grunge? I started this look out wanting to use Liberty (the matte olive green) over a larger area so it would be more visible than how I’ve previously used it, and also to use it alone without the help of a transition shade. It requires more blending than the other mattes in the palette but it does eventually get there. Something I appreciate about this shade is how it stays pretty true to color as it is blended and sheered out along the edges.

Another goal was to use Hope some more as I hadn’t really gotten a whole lot of use out of it since purchasing the palette. There was a little bit of sparkle fallout but it wasn’t too bad. Unfortunately, it looks more gold than green here. That is somewhat true in real life too but these photos did come out much warmer than they should have.

Belle has a lot of shine and adheres well by itself without needing to use a dampened brush.

Here is my first look using the ABH Nouveau Palette. I wore this palette many times before doing this but only used 1-2 shades at a time. I wanted to try using a bunch of the shades together.

When I first saw this palette launched, the selection of shades as a whole didn’t really pique my interest all that much. I have several more looks coming up and, still, after trying it out so much, I’m having a hard time enjoying working solely out of this one palette. They are all nice individually though and I am itching to pair them with things I think might go better with them.

I ended up doing an all matte eye using the ColourPop Rock Candy Palette, trying to see how well I could get all the different tones to show up. It can be easy to look at palettes like this and think that no matter what shades you use, you’re always gonna end up with the same look but I feel like that’s just an assumption. It’s not the most contrasty of looks but I think the different tones show up well enough. I wore this for 7 hours. By the end of the day, the primed eye was barely starting to fade in the crease and the unprimed eye was lightly creased.

The combination of sunscreen, primer, and foundation I went with on this day was a BAD idea. These three things do not go well together LOL. I had to spend lots of extra time blending with my sponge and a brush, even trying to remove and thin out the base makeup a bit to get it to look natural on the skin again. 

I used the Milk and Elf primers side by side because it seems like Elf is trying to dupe the Milk primer. They are very similar but the Milk one is the tiniest bit stickier. The foundation went over top both about the same way. They are hydrating and smooth out texture/pores a bit when foundation is applied over them. I don’t think they do much to increase longevity but I’ll have to test that out some more.

I mixed these two because I didn’t love Sweetwater by itself with the eye look.

This kind of look is more fun for me. I wanted to use the shades that stood out or seemed more unique in the ColourPop Rock Candy Palette. The two main ones I wanted to dig into were This Ore That and Solid. This Ore That had a lot of sparkle fallout, more than the other matte with sparkle shades I tried but I can put up with it because I don’t believe I have anything else like this in my collection. Solid is super nice quality. Very pigmented and shiny with little effort. I did not need to dampen my brush to get it to apply like this. I wore this for 10 hours and by that time both eyes were creased but the one with the Ulta primer was much worse.

Here’s a more dramatic black smokey eye with glitter using the ColourPop Rock Candy Palette. Again, I was happy with all the shades I used and how they performed. The shade I most wanted to use in this look was Stone’s Throw which is a matte black with lots of sparkle in it. It had very nice color payoff and surprisingly not much sparkle fallout (I did apply it as carefully as I could, mostly tapping the shade into place). This shade did have a little bit of fallout from the matte black so I ended up using a powder foundation to help clean it up afterward. I wore this look for 8 hours over two different primers. Over Ulta Beauty Matte Eye Primer, I had noticeable but not terrible creasing by the end of the day and much heavier creasing and fading over Urban Decay Anti Aging Primer Potion. The UD primer has consistently not worn very long on me with different eyeshadows. The Ulta one is newer to me but so far doesn’t seem as long wearing as my Alter Ego Eyeshadow Primer. I am also wondering if the glitter may have affected wear time because of its tacky, self adhering base.

For my first look with the ColourPop Rock Candy Palette, I went with a cool toned smokey eye. It’s not a super heavy eye makeup look but it is noticeable. All of the matte shades applied with good color payoff and blended easily. The inner corner highlight is the most subtle/sheer of all the shimmers but it still shows up and works well. The lid shade I used had a lot of sparkle fallout during application and continued to have fallout throughout the day. About 4 hours into wear, the unprimed eye started to fade in the crease (but was not creased yet) and the primed eye still looked fine. After 9 hours, the unprimed eye was very noticeably creased and the primed eye was just starting to fade in the crease. By 11 hours, the primed eye finally gave up. This was on a day when I wasn’t doing a whole lot, mostly sitting at a desk all day.

I pulled out a bunch of random stuff I rarely use and this look is the result. The majority of the color is from the ABH Norvina Palette and I topped it off with various other shiny things.

The night before this, I was decluttering some old makeup and some of the things I had in my declutter box were some liquid eyeshadows. I don’t think most of them are even around anymore but I thought I might as well try one of them out today. It ended up being something I’m gonna have to chuck because it’s dried out and it turned out to be such a minor and hardly visible part of the look.

I’ve been meaning to use the ABH Norvina Palette for a while. The color selection is intersting and I feel like I could do some really fun stuff with it but for whatever reason I’ve never spent the time on it like I have with other palettes. There really are way too many palettes in the world and not enough time.

More of a dramatic, semi-experimental look with the Huda Beauty Rose Quartz Palette. I really didn’t like how this one came out but sometimes I post things and others seem to like them, so here it is.

This look is kind of all over the place. There a lot going on in the inner corner with Cherished applied over a larger area and then in a smaller area I wanted to try using Love Stone as a sticky base for Blissful. In the crease, I used Mantra as a base color and then again used Blissful on top for some sparkle. Blissful has lots of fallout but I did get far less fallout the way I used it on the inner corner.

I applied this over primer on one eye and without primer on the other eye. The third slide shows how much less even and lighter Mantra looks when applied to bare lids. It works okay but I definitely prefer to use this shade with a base. The difference wasn’t really obvious to me until I looked at the photos.

Here’s a simple light and bright look you can get out of the Huda Beauty Rose Quartz Palette. It’s mainly a sheer frosty shade all over the lid with some slight definition in the crease and a soft winged liner.

I primed my lids with a tinted eyeshadow base (you could also use concealer) because I personally just like it better to have as even a “canvas” as possible when using a sheer shade over top. Then I used my finger to apply Self Love from my lashes to my brow bone and used a small shader brush to make sure I didn’t miss any spots near the lashes and brows. As a side note, I have noticed the shimmers in this palette tend to have more fallout when I apply them with my fingers than with brushes. This isn’t always true with every shimmer formula.

I added some soft purply depth in the outer crease and along the lower lashline with Serenity and added a bit more shimmer from Self Love over it on the lower lashline. The metallic pop on the inner corner is Energized. 

As an experiment, I used Mantra as a brow powder as well as the winged liner. I typically use a black or dark grey brow powder so I thought this might work and it did. The shadow is a little softer and more dusty than what I’m used to in a brow powder. I had to be careful not to go in too heavy handed to avoid ending up with darker brows than I wanted. But the color works. It has a very subtle purple undertone but, at least on me, it doesn’t really come across in the brows. It just looks neutral.

The main purpose of this was just to do another wear test. After 6 hours I noticed some very slight creasing which got only a little bit worse by the 8.5 hour mark. For using a “cream” shade all over the lid, it lasted much longer than I expected.

Look 4 with the Huda Beauty Rose Quartz Palette. It’s mostly matte using a mix of the warmer and cooler shades with one shimmer on the outer lid. I tried something I normally don’t do which is using a deeper shade on only the center part of the lower lashline and brightening both the inner and outer corners. I think it created an interesting shape I’d try again with different colors/textures.

FYI, I tried pressing the outer lid shade (Empowered) on with my finger and it caused much more fallout that way than just using a brush. Keep that in mind if you have this palette.

I’ve been using several liners on my lower waterline recently and have found I really like the quality of this one from Fenty. I have many ColourPop liners but they don’t go on quite as evenly or have as much color payoff without lots of building.

I’ve been feeling such a lack of creativity and inspiration for a long time. The past several looks have been very forced. I wanted to take a day to use anything I felt like from my collection whether discontinued or not in hopes of breaking out of that lull. 

I dunno that it really helped me feel more creative but it did help my mood a bit.

Originally the idea I had swirling in my head was “winter sunrise” but it turned into more of a pastel candy look. 

Where I work, I can hardly see outside but the building does have some small windows. Last winter I worked very early in the morning and occasionally, depending on the weather, there were some gorgeous colorful sunrises. The plan was to use peaches, corals, and lavenders but then I ended up bringing in lots of blue which changed the whole feel of it. 

99% of the time, these things do not turn out the way I plan but it does help to have some sort of idea in mind at first.

Finally getting around to using the Huda Beauty Rose Quartz Palette again after a busy week. I started out with zero idea of what I wanted to do. By the time I got to the end, I didn’t realize how many shades I used.

Radiate and Gratitude didn’t both need to be used in this look. Radiate is a little more purple and gives more of a cool toned effect. Gratitude is more red and warmed up the look after I applied it. Both were easy to blend and I didn’t have to spend much time at all to get them to show up. 

Aura was also quick and easy to use. The color applied evenly and blended with not much effort.

I used a brush to apply Self Love and it came out pretty subtle. I wonder if I used my finger with this shade if I could get a bit more impact from it.

Blissful had a lot of sparkle fallout. I applied it with a dry brush so I am not surprised. This is one to try with a wet brush or sticky base. Maybe even the gloss topper could be used as a base for the few shades in this palette that have this texture.

Empowered has a thicker texture and I have to apply it a little differently than the other shimmers. It adheres well but that means that once I get it to stick to the skin, it is hard to blend it and move it outward from where I placed it. It’s easier to just pick up more on the brush and over a bit. 

I already used Precious in a previous look and enjoyed the quality. I only used it here to try applying Love Stone (the gloss) over it. I wasn’t blown away by the result lol. I finally got some of the shimmers in Love Stone to mix with the clear portion of the shade. It just adds a faint amount of rosy shimmer to the glaze that isn’t all that visible. Will have to keep trying it different ways.

Adding Happiness to the outer corner was a last minute decision because this look just felt kind of boring to me.

The Essence foundation is new to me and this was my first time trying it out. It seemed like the type that eventually sets and becomes difficult to move/blend. After applying it, I wished that I had used a primer because it wasn’t really helping the texture on my skin to look any better. I didn’t want to mess up what I already applied so I just kept going.

The lighter side of the Essence Contouring Duo seemed to work fine as a setting powder. Unlike a translucent powder, it adds some color and even a slight amount of coverage. I went over top with the Too Faced powder which I really like for smoothing. The Essence one isn’t as fine as the Too Faced one but it didn’t look “powdery” once on the skin.

How I Did It

This second look with the Huda Beauty Rose Quartz Palette is a grey and pink smokey eye with lots of blue shimmer all over the outer half of the eye. Both eyes were pretty crease-y by the end of the day. The Mac Paint Pot doesn’t last all that long on me.

There are three shades in this palette that have chunkier sparkles in them and when layered heavily are very reflective. I don’t remember where I read it now, but a few days ago someone mentioned they shine almost like indie shadows. I think that’s a good way to put it. One of them is Cosmic Love and this is the shade I put on my outer lid. It is a marbled cream with a sheen that goes from blue to purple to pink. It is really hard to get the color and shine across, and even to look at it in real life is hard. At some angles, it’s just sparkle and at others it’s a blinding reflection. The other two shades like this are Blissful and Moon Magic. Keep in mind these types of shades have lots of sparkle fallout.

How I Did It

For my first dive into the Huda Beauty Rose Quartz Palette, I ended up with this greyish purple cool toned look. I focused mostly on the first two columns on the left side of the palette and added in the pale matte pink. I wore this look for 11 hours. One eye was primed and the other was not. The primed eye lasted the whole day with little creasing but the unprimed eye started creasing about 4 hours in.

I started out with the two matte greys (Precious and Mantra) and was pleasantly surprised with their quality. Most greys I use don’t work as well as warmer shades and can be more patchy. The color applied evenly and blended out easily. These have purple tones that became more obvious as I used them. I applied Cherished to the inner part of the crease/transition area, layering it slightly over the grey. This shade is very light but I think it shows up pretty well. On the lid, I used Serenity and Aura, and topped them with Energized. When swatching, Energized looks and feels more metallic than the other shimmers. I applied it with my finger to get more shine out of it and then softened the edges with a brush. Using a brush alone with this shade gave more of a soft sparkly effect. It had a small amount of sparkle fallout. Quartz was less punchy than the other shimmers so I built it up to get what you see here.

So far I’m impressed. The mattes were plenty pigmented but easy to blend, the shimmers were buildable, adhered easily, and didn’t have very much fallout. Wear time is not really typical for me. Usually I wont have such a big difference in wear time with and without primer. I normally will see creasing around 4 hours in with most eyeshadows over bare lids. Primers will usually get me closer to 8 hours.

• ColourPop Just A Tint Lip Crayon in Always Right

How I Did It

I like reds and oranges together so I thought I’d do a look mostly with those colors. The gold inner corner was kind of an afterthought but I like it. This was even faster to do than the last look I posted. I think the eye makeup took me about 30 mins.

What I Used

Eyes:

• Alter Ego Eyeshadow Primer
• Shades from my Custom Fall Palette
  • Red Bottoms – Most of the lid and slightly in the crease, blended lightly around edges
  • Creamsicle – Transition shade around edges of Red Bottoms, lower lashline
  • Bay Watch – Layered over Creamsicle on lower lashline
  • Queen B – Inner corner
  • Clementine – Center of lid
• Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pen
• Viseart Brow Palette
• Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Brag Mascara
• Covergirl Lash Exact Mascara (lower lashes)
• A gold eyeliner (waterline) – Hardly showed up, skip if you like

The first time I used Red Bottoms, I layered it over another shade and it faded easily when blending. This time I applied it to a larger area and straight over the lid. I didn’t have any issues with it and found it held up well throughout the day. Whenever I use Creamsicle, it comes out more intense than I expect. For some reason, I think it’s going to go on more sheer but this one builds and shows up very easily. Bay Watch isn’t the most impactful shimmer – not super shiny or opaque but I like how it changed the look of the matte orange underneath it. Queen B is a nice gold shimmer, good pigment, creamy, intense. I didn’t dampen the brush and I didn’t have a ton of fallout from it. I’ve used Clementine quite a bit. I adheres well on its own without a sticky base but I do have to spend some time picking up just the right amount on the brush and carefully/lightly placing it on the lid. It’s easier to apply it lightly and build than it is to move it once it sticks to the skin.

I went for a different kind of base makeup. Usually I’ll just use a higher coverage foundation but sometimes I’ll use lighter coverage liquid products and then make up for it with a higher coverage powder on top. This is something worth trying if you don’t like how heavier coverage products sit on the skin. The Physicians Formula The Healthy Powder on its way out but there are tons of others out there.

Cheeks:

This bronzer is VERY natural looking on me. It might be too light if you really like your bronzer/contour to show up. If I apply it lightly and blend, the grey tone you see in the pan fades into something warmer and it does give my overall complexion a warmer look. If I apply it heavily, it will start to look more grey in the areas where it is layered on more thick and look weird/unnatural. It is a cream product but it has more of a balmy than a greasy/sticky feel to it. It feels about the way a liquid foundation or moisturizer feels once it settles into the skin. 

Lips:

• Roen Liquid Lip Balm in Charlie

Whenever I see a product like this that is described as a liquid lip balm but looks like a lip gloss, I am skeptical. I think this one does function as a balm. It isn’t oily or sticky and does seem to absorb into the lips over time. The color is super sheer and mostly just looks my own lip color. It has a lightly minty smell and feel. 

How I Did It

I wasn’t originally going to do more than one look with this palette but after using it the first time, I wanted to get a few more looks out of it before putting all the shades away. This is a four shade look in the green and yellow family. I took forever to do it because that’s just what I do but it can be applied pretty quickly.

Mo Bamba had some fallout as is visible in the photos. I built it up quite a bit to get it to look like it does, so that’s probably why. Olive U applied easily and with plenty of color payoff just using a brush and had very minimal shimmer fallout. Buzz Kill had plenty of pigmentation and blended easily but I feel I could have gotten a smoother/cleaner look if I had added one more transition shade to buff around the edges with. Oh Beehave is intense, even applied with a fluffy brush. Sometimes with inner corner shades, I need to use a more dense brush like a pencil brush to get color payoff like that.

If I’m using sunscreen seriously then I won’t wear much or any makeup over it at all because reapplying is just going to mess up the makeup. On this day I was more curious to see how it would perform in place of a primer. It has kind of a nice texture to it actually and gives a somewhat smoothing feel to the skin so I was curious to see how foundation would sit over it. It doesn’t quite do the same thing an actual primer does but it paired well with the foundation and didn’t make it break down or get more oily than it normally would throughout the day.

Cheeks:

• Too Faced Sweetie Pie Bronzer

Felt like breaking this out. It’s been sitting unused for a long time. It was once a favorite go-to product that I could wear by itself both as a bronzer and as a blush because of it’s peachy bronze tone.

Lips:

• ColourPop Just A Tint Lip Crayon in Feel Good

A second wear for this shade. Very comfortable and easy to wear but doesn’t last long.

How I Did It

This is a look I did with the Custom Fall Palette I made in my last post. These are all shades taken from ColourPop’s monochromatic palettes. The goal wasn’t really to do a bunch of looks with it like I do with other palettes, it was just to the make the palette itself. So I ended up using all 12 shades in a single look which I realize is maybe more involved than what some would like.

Fall is one of the more colorful times of year and that’s what I wanted to create in the palette. Because I used all the shades in the look, I think I managed to keep the same feel/look/vibe on the eye. But I think there are so many other ways I could use it that would require way fewer shades and be much faster to do.

Lips:

How I Did It

I started out this look knowing I wanted to use the deepest shade in the ColourPop Uh Huh Honey Palette to create a graphic shape and use some of the lighter yellow shades around it. I ended up adding a black shadow to add a little more depth because it just wasn’t enough for me.

• Anastasia Beverly HIlls Dipbrow Pomade in Taupe
• Anastasia Beverly HIlls Lash Brag Mascara

The one shade I hadn’t used yet recently was Oh Beehave. It worked just as well as the other mattes. Too bad it isn’t easier to tell apart from Totally Buggin’ in this look. When swatched, Oh Beehave is noticeably more yellow.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the ABH Dipbrow in the last look but I don’t mind how my brows came out using it together with the Viseart Brow Palette. The pomade gave the brow powder something to adhere to.

This is my second time wearing this combination of products. The immediate effect was smoothing but it seems to get pretty shiny on me throughout the day. I ended up adding more powder several times. There’s something about the way the foundation sits on the skin that I’m just not happy about. My skin is still not in the best condition so it’s kind of hard to say if it’s the foundation itself or just me needing to take better care of my skin. I think the shade is a bit light and that doesn’t help things look better. 

Cheeks:

• Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighter in Molten Gold

I think the bronzer looked better today after taking some more time applying my foundation. It’s easy to build up and apply evenly, and it blends out easily. If I go too heavy handed with it, the color can look a little “off” on me. Maybe a bit on the orange side?

Lips:

• Mixture of Wet n Wild Megalast Matte Lipsticks in Bare It All and Never Nude

These feel like matte lipsticks, meaning I can feel them on my lips more than I can with more of a satin/moisturizing formula. I applied them over a bit of lip balm and I didn’t feel like they caused my lips to become any more dry. Once they are applied, they seem to stay put pretty well. I even ate a sandwhich and a good amount color managed to survive.

Omg. Let me just start with saying I reapplied this makeup like 3 or 4 times in a row. I wanted to try recording on a different camera to hopefully get some better video quality. I figured I was going to run into hickups along the way. So glad this day is over.

This was my first look look using the ColourPop Uh Huh Honey Palette. I just did somewhat of a predictable look with it. When I’m not really sure what to do, sometimes doing the obvious thing and getting that out of the way helps.

Stinger didn’t blend as readily as I would expect for being so light. It blended fine, just not fast. Queen B was very creamy and easy to pick up plenty of color on the brush. Not very much fallout. The shine on this shade looks like I applied it with a wet brush. I didn’t. Sunburst has a little bit more fallout. It has some larger sparkles in it that fly off of the brush during application. Sweet Spot didn’t swatch as easily as the other shades and required more building up but it applied with a brush just fine. Totally Buggin’ had good color payoff but the way I applied it, it doesn’t stand out against the shades next to it. It’s a borderline orange shade.

I switched out my brow product for this look just to get out of that rut. The brow pomade takes me longer to apply and I don’t get as “clean” of a look with it. I think part of that is that the shade is lighter than what I ususally use. It strangely looks better up close than it does from far away.

Because I reapplied my makeup so many times, my skin got kind of red and I stopped putting so much time into my foundation because I just wanted to figure out my camera problems. So the foundation is somewhat sheer and I didn’t apply all that much of it. I’ll have to use it again and use a different one to test the cheek products better.

I’ve used this one quite a bit in the past but it has been a long time. It has a more emolient and hydrating formula. Needed to repowder several times. Even though it is hydrating, it not my fav for when my skin is dry because it can emphasize texture if I apply too much of it. The coverage and color is what I don’t remember well about it.

Cheeks:

The blush was SO pigmented and just very dark on me. Definitely need to use a light hand with this shade.

I want to use the bronzer again over a different foundation. With my skin being irritated it was hard to tell how this would normally look.

Lips:

• NYX Shout Loud Satin Lipstick in Chic

Seemed to last a decent amount of time. Need to wear again.

More of a storm inspired look. I planned on using mostly the ColourPop Blue Moon and maybe incorporating the Uh Huh Honey palette if I wanted something extra but I ended up using many other shades. I like doing these more complex looks but then sharing them becomes much more time consuming and they really don’t do very well.

When I used Billie Jean in a previous look, I realized I should try it over a sticky base to see if I might get a different effect from it. The glitter glue definitely gave it a more intense shine. Sunburst had the most fallout of all the shimmers, more than any that I used from the first and second Blue Moon looks. It looks more green on the lower lashline because I layered it over a the grey eyeshadow. Thunderbird took me a while to blend out but the color was worth it.
