The ones on the left are heavy finger swatches and the ones on the right are lighter and done with a brush. It helps me especially with the shimmery shades to see how much of the shade is fine shimmer, larger sparkle, and base color. For the matte shades, the brush swatches usually are a closer representation of how the color will apply to the eye.

Are the second swatches blended out or are the first ones with a primer? I didn’t see an explanation to what they are (or did I miss it?). Nice swatches, too. They really show the shades.
