When I decided to purchase this, I was looking for a sunscreen that wouldn’t interfere with my makeup. I liked the idea that I could spray it on but I realized that, while you can spray it onto your face, it’s better not to. It can get onto your hair pretty easily if you do that and it also still needs to be spread evenly onto the skin. It’s not something you should really apply on top of makeup.

Now, I still do enjoy the product because it dries down without leaving a slippery or greasy feel behind. It works beautifully under most foundations without too much altering of the way they look, apply, feel, or last throughout the day.

Initially it does feel slippery but after about 5 minutes it sinks into the skin and dries down completely. The dry down can sometimes feel a bit more dry than when I skip SPF and wear moisturizer alone. On days when I wear this, I am sure to be a bit more generous with moisturizer.

One downside to this is that I feel like it doesn’t protect my skin as well as “chemical” sunscreens. I’ve had times when I wore this out the in the sun for a couple hours and ended up with a slight burn. It could be that I need to apply it more heavily for better protection but then it defeats the purpose for me finding a sunscreen that doesn’t interfere with my makeup.

What I do when I wear this is I layer It Cosmetics CC Cream on top which is also SPF 50. That combo works really well together. I find the sunscreen almost acts like a smoothing primer and gives the CC Cream a more perfected finish. For reapplication throughout the day, I reach for It Cosmetics CC+ Airbrush Perfecting Powder (another SPF 50 product!).

Dr. Dennis Gross Sheer Mineral Sun Spray is not perfect but for the problem I was trying to solve, it does pretty good.
